The latest Keepit incarnation (version 2.5) i being deployed to customers over the comming week. You will all receive the update automatically - and new users will get this version from tuesday upon registration.

When we originally launched Keepit about 3 years ago, we had some discussions in our forums about bandwidth throttling. Some users voiced the wish to be able to control the amount of bandwidth Keepit used to upload files to our backup-facilities. Our position then (and now) is that users should implement third party tools to manage bandwidth between applications rather than have applications trying to adjust each other. So we did not implement bandwidth throttling. That is - until now!

Introducing Keepit 2.5 featuring Bandwidth Throttling
In short, we found a smart way to do it living up to our promise to keep it simple. Now, when Keepit detects that other programs are using the network connection it will upload backup data at a reduced speed. This is an adaptive process that runs continuously, so Keepit will increase the upload speed when the other program stops using bandwidth. It works by alternating between a short measuring phase where the upload speed is measured and a transmit phase where Keepit
uploads at 90% of the measured speed.

Of other news we now support 64 bit windows systems natively. More on this in changelog released with the update over the coming days.

Sit back and relax, while we update you to the latest and safest Keepit version ever - coming to your desktop within the next couple of days
