Restore Salesforce records
Keepit supports in-place restore for individual Salesforce records. You can restore a record on its own or together with its related records (i.e., all records lower in the hierarchy).
You can also restore multiple records at once, but note that restoring related records is not available in bulk restore mode.
To restore multiple records at a time with related items, use the restore wizard.
The Restore Wizard also allows you to:
- Restore records to a different environment
- Restore specific fields
- Anonymize sensitive data during restore
Restore an individual Salesforce record
1. Browse your folders or use the search to find your record.
Note: Records are found in Objects > object type.
2. Optional: If you want to restore a record from an earlier point in time, select the Snapshots Viewer, and then select the appropriate snapshot.
3. To the right of the record, select ••• > Restore.
Tip: To preview the record, select the item to open the File Previewer. In the upper-left corner, select the Restore icon.
4. Select the method of restore and then select Next.
- Restore only this record - This option restores only the selected record and no related records.
- Also restore related records - This option restores the selected record along with all related records.
If enabled, you can deselect any objects you don't want to include. Related objects that are dependent on others and cannot be excluded.
Note: Restoring a related record will also restore all its child records in the hierarchy, including associated files and attachments.
5. Review the restore summary and then select Confirm.
Important notes
- The Job Monitor may show more items restored than originally selected. These additional items are metafiles required for proper functionality, but they are not visible in Salesforce.
- RTBF-marked related records cannot be restored. If any are included, the restore job will be marked as incomplete.
Restore Salesforce records in bulk
You can restore multiple records at once, but related records cannot be restored in bulk mode.
To restore multiple records, select the desired items and click Restore in the toolbar.
Restoring deleted items in bulk
Deleted items cannot be restored in bulk directly. You can restore these items individually by selecting ••• > Restore.
To restore deleted items in bulk:
- Open the Snapshots Viewer.
- Select a snapshot from before the items were deleted.
For example, to restore items from a deleted folder, check the folder’s timestamp and select a snapshot from before the deletion.
This will enable bulk restore for the deleted items.
