Odebrecht is one of the world's largest heavy engineering and construction groups. The group encompasses six companies, including Novonor and Odebrecht Engenharia e Construção, with approximately 4,000 users operating across 14 countries. For a company of that scale and under continuous regulatory scrutiny, data protection has to work when it matters most.
A real incident revealed the gap
Odebrecht had solid backup coverage for its on-premises systems, but Microsoft 365, which had become the primary environment for collaboration and productivity across the group, was a different story. The team was relying entirely on Microsoft's standard retention, with no independent backup and no contractual guarantee of recovery.
The gap became undeniable during a proof of concept. An employee accidentally deleted a shared OneDrive folder containing approximately 32,000 documents from an active construction project. Keepit restored everything, complete with a full integrity report, during the evaluation itself. That incident moved the decision from consideration to commitment.

A list of demanding requirements
Odebrecht partnered with Adapta to select and deploy a backup and recovery solution that could meet its evolving needs.
Odebrecht evaluated four vendors against detailed technical, contractual, and operational requirements. The priorities were full coverage of Microsoft 365 SaaS applications, predictable costs with unlimited storage, no egress fees, and no contractual lock-in that would complicate a future exit. Keepit was the only vendor to meet all the criteria, making it the clear choice on every dimension.

Fast recovery — streamlined compliance
Since going into full production, Odebrecht has completed more than 20 recovery processes. The compliance team now runs investigations independently, averaging around six cases per month without routing requests through IT. Keepit was also demonstrated live during an external ISO 37001 audit and approved.
Today, Odebrecht uses Keepit to protect approximately 794 TB of Microsoft 365 data, alongside Microsoft Entra ID, Power Platform, Azure DevOps, and DocuSign, all stored in Keepit's own independent cloud.
