How Google Workspace seats are counted

This article explains how Keepit counts seats for Google Workspace connectors, including which license types map to each seat category.

How seats are counted

For Google Drive and Gmail, Keepit counts only the users you select in the configuration window as seats. Users not included in your selection aren't counted.

Each user is assigned a seat type based on their Google Workspace license. Keepit recognizes three seat categories: Light, Education, and Full.

Archived user licenses are always excluded from the seat count. For more information, see below.

Light seats

Users with the following licenses count as Light seats:

  • Google Workspace Business Starter
  • G Suite Basic
  • G Suite Lite
  • Google Workspace Frontline
  • Google Workspace for Nonprofits
  • Google Workspace Essentials (formerly G Suite Essentials)
  • Google Workspace Enterprise Essentials

Users with the following licenses count as Education seats:

  • Google Workspace for Education Standard
  • Google Workspace for Education Standard (Extra Student)
  • Google Workspace for Education Plus (Extra Student)

Full seats

Any license not listed under Light or Education counts as a Full seat.
