Estimated restore size in Salesforce
When you restore Salesforce data, Keepit shows an estimated restore size in the summary step. Use this to check you have enough storage before the restore runs.
Where it appears
The estimated restore size appears in the Summary step of restores. It shows two values:
- Available storage — the free storage space in your Salesforce org.
- Estimated restore size — the maximum amount of storage this restore could use.
Select the question mark icon (?) next to Storage size to see how the estimate is calculated.
How the estimate is calculated
The estimate is based on the selected records and their related records. It assumes every selected record is recreated from scratch — the most storage-intensive scenario.
In practice, the actual storage used is often lower. When the restore runs, Keepit checks each record one by one:
- Deleted records are recreated. These use storage.
- Updated records are updated. These use storage.
- Unchanged records are skipped. These use no storage.
Keepit can't determine in advance which category each record falls into, so the estimate reflects the maximum possible size. The actual restore is often smaller.
Note: If the estimated restore size exceeds your available storage, consider reducing the number of selected records or freeing up space in your Salesforce org before proceeding.
