Restore OneDrive data from the connector level

To restore the entire OneDrive of a user, or the OneDrives of more than one user at a time, use the connector-level restore.

To restore one OneDrive file, use the Item Restore.

Restore OneDrive data

1. To start the connector-level restore, select your connector's Restore icon.

2. Select Restore > Next.

3. Select a snapshot from the time you want to restore. Then click Next.

4. Select OneDrive > Next.

5. Select users you want to restore. Then click Next.

6. Select where to restore the data.

Note: The "to new folder" option is only available for connectors created before the release of Keepit 10.11.0 (September 2025).

7. If you selected In-place, select how to handle duplicate items:

  • Skip duplicate items: Modified items (same item but with different timestamps) will be skipped.
  • Rename duplicate items: Modified items (same item but with different timestamps) will be added and renamed. The suffix "(1)" will be added to the filename.
  • Overwrite existing items Modified items (same item but with different timestamps) will be overwritten.

8. Select how to handle versions. Then click Next.

If you selected in-place:

  • Restore only last Microsoft file version: The most recent version of each file will be restored as a new file version.
  • Restore all Microsoft files versions: All existing versions of each file will be overwritten and restored versions will receive new modified dates.

If you selected to new folder:

  • Restore last Microsoft file version: The most recent version of each file will be restored.
  • Restore all Microsoft file versions: All versions of all files will be restored.

Note: For this type of restore, the folder must still exist on the tenant. If the folder has been deleted, first create in Microsoft 365 a new folder with the same name as the original folder. Then you can proceed with the restore.

9. Review the summary and then click Restore.

Important: Items present in OneDrive but not in the snapshot will be deleted.

Restored OneDrive versions will retain their original owners, editors, and modified dates.
