Restore OneDrive data from the connector level
To restore the entire OneDrive of a user, or the OneDrives of more than one user at a time, use the connector-level restore.
To restore one OneDrive file, use the Item Restore.
Restore OneDrive data
1. To start the connector-level restore, select your connector's Restore icon.
2. Select Restore > Next.
3. Select a snapshot from the time you want to restore. Then click Next.
4. Select OneDrive > Next.
5. Select users you want to restore. Then click Next.
6. Select where to restore the data.
Note: The "to new folder" option is only available for connectors created before the release of Keepit 10.11.0 (September 2025).
7. If you selected In-place, select how to handle duplicate items:
- Skip duplicate items: Modified items (same item but with different timestamps) will be skipped.
- Rename duplicate items: Modified items (same item but with different timestamps) will be added and renamed. The suffix "(1)" will be added to the filename.
- Overwrite existing items Modified items (same item but with different timestamps) will be overwritten.
8. Select how to handle versions. Then click Next.
If you selected in-place:
- Restore only last Microsoft file version: The most recent version of each file will be restored as a new file version.
- Restore all Microsoft files versions: All existing versions of each file will be overwritten and restored versions will receive new modified dates.
If you selected to new folder:
- Restore last Microsoft file version: The most recent version of each file will be restored.
- Restore all Microsoft file versions: All versions of all files will be restored.
Note: For this type of restore, the folder must still exist on the tenant. If the folder has been deleted, first create in Microsoft 365 a new folder with the same name as the original folder. Then you can proceed with the restore.
9. Review the summary and then click Restore.
Important: Items present in OneDrive but not in the snapshot will be deleted.
Restored OneDrive versions will retain their original owners, editors, and modified dates.
